Diving in Sunderland
Sunderland City Dive Team
A Brief History
Sunderland City Dive Team was formed independently in March 2014 from the diving section of City of Sunderland Swimming Club, although there has been a diving club in Sunderland for many years.
Our Aims
The primary aims of our diving club is to develop diving at grass roots level and to offer the people of Tyne and Wear and across North East England the chance to participate in springboard, highboard and platform diving, under the supervision of qualified instructors. The club offers training to anyone who wants to learn to dive in Sunderland either for fun or to compete in competitions locally or across the country.

Facilities
The facilities at our pool include 1m and 3m springboards, 1m, 3m and 5m platforms.
The club is run by ASA qualified diving coaches under the direction of head coach Stephen Pattinson. We have an active committee that provides valuable support to the club. This enables the coaches to concentrate on all club sessions and events.
Training is part of the council run Sunderland diving programme which runs a recreational learn to dive scheme as well our 7 competitive squads who compete at a range of levels from novice through to elite. We hope to send teams of divers to National Skills Finals, National Talent Games, National Age Groups and Elite Junior National Championships.
